Generations

The number of generations is used for pedigree displays. Additionally, it is used in test matings if you are a site member. Simply select the number of generations and the pedigrees will automatically adjust to the selected number.

Search by Option:

This option limits search functions to a Cairn name, a Cairn line, or a Cairn family. You can only select one of these options because the search system performs advanced processing for some of them.

Title

Current Cairn titles vary and can be complex in other countries. You can search for titled cairns, untitled cairns, or simply ignore this option. If you are looking for a Champion Cairn for a possible test mating, select the "Titled" option.

Search Text

Here you can insert a Cairn name, line, or family. Since the site searches for various names LIKE the ones you enter, please be precise. For example, if you select a Cairn named "Prince Edward", the search engine will look for names containing "Prince" and "Edward". You might end up with many similar names. Therefore, please try the names you need. This process is easy and you will get used to using it quickly.

Gender

This simply determines whether the search will include all cairns, or only males or females. This is often important, especially for mating searches.

Date of Birth

For the date of birth, you can select a starting month or year and an ending month or year to search. The search engine will search between the two selected month-years. If only the start date is entered, all dates after that date will display. If the end date is selected, all dates prior to that date will display.
